The most frustrating thing about watching Last Comic Standing has got to be the misrepresentation of stand up comedy as a form of entertainment and a way to make a living. However a close second is the way the producers edit the show to leave out certain things.

In a recent episode of the show, comedian Doug Benson auditioned in Minnesota and the audience learned that he had previously auditioned in Los Angeles but wasn't asked back. According to the episode that aired, the reason that Doug didn't make the cut was because Ant thought Doug wasn't exciting enough onstage, but that is only half the story.

Ask yourself this...why was Doug sent away from the competition just because Ant didn't like him? What about Kathleen and Alonzo? If they voted for him then it doesn't matter what Ant thought, right? Well, here's what you didn't see:

At the daytime auditions, Ant's judge status had clearly gone straight to his head and when Doug auditioned Ant was so drunk with power he decided that he didn't want to hear from Doug and insisted that he not be put through to the next round.

Before Doug even got out of the club, he was told that he had an appointment to re-audition in Minneapolis. It seemed that Ant had been "abusing his power" all day and treating many of the comedians with extreme disrespect.

So, as we saw, Doug auditioned again in Minneapolis and made it to the next round. The ironic part of the story is that the producers did the same thing with Ant in season two. The producers felt they had made a mistake not letting Ant into the final group in season one, so they asked him to audition again and were happy to give him way too much screen time.

The good news is that, from what I understand, there is no comedian house this season, just performances and hopefully none of them will be from Ant.
